Sign in to disble this ad
the battery has gone on my bass and i have a gig tonight but one of the screws on my back plate is so tight i can't get it out. whats more the screwdriver has now pretty much destroyed the little grip in the top of the screw so it seems hopeless.

what do i do? really i need like anwsers in the next half and hour.

I was expecting a naughty story upon entering this thread

Seriously, take a drop of crazy glue (super glue, whatver you call it, it should be cyanoacrylate) and touch it to the screw and then the screwdriver. This should give it enough grip to get the screw out, I've done this before.

Can you get all the other screws out and then just push or bend the control cover out of the way?

Use a larger screwdriver, it'll bite into a different place and the larger handle will give you more leverage. Lay the body of the bass on top of a pillow and get a good grip on it. Don't use a power screwdriver or a little cheapy if possible.

thankyou, i ended up using the second method, my guitarist bought his tool box of doom to the gig and the last minute repair job was successful
