Enlarge holes in Squier control plate.

The control plate on my Squier VM fretless has holes in metric units (8mm), but I'd like to somehow drill or grind enough metal to increase the size to 3/8". Long story short, my potentiometer experiment would have taken a lot less time and been a lot easier if they were in inches (you know how hard it is finding washers that will fit 8mm mini pots?).

I'm looking at my dremmel bits and don't see anything that would do the trick. What can I use to punch a bigger hole in a several-mm thick metal plate?
