Enlarging side position markers

Sign in to disble this ad
As I get older my eyes are heading directly south, and I find myself having trouble seeing the side position markers on stage, both in the dark and when the lights are changing, creating constantly moving shadows.

So, I need to enlarge them. Years ago I used bright fingernail polish on a bass that had extra mini ones, and it seemed to work fine. It's also a great line for meeting women, "Hey, do you have any fingernail polish I could borrow?" I also used it as loctite on Fender bridges to keep the saddles from moving.

But I was wondering if there is a better way. I guess led's would be cool, but I not looking at major surgery. So, I'm looking for ideas.

Thanks

I believe there are several ways that might possibly help you.

Here's one I just found in a google search..

http://www.fretfx.com/

I also found several other glow in the dark type stick-on markers that might work.. I haven't tried any of these..

Here's what I use on all of my basses. I purchase white reflective tape at the hardware store. After I've removed the backing from the tape, I then use a paper punch that sort of looks like a pair of pliers to punch out 1/4" dots. I transfer the dots to the neck using the tip of an X-acto knife so I don't touch the adhesive.

The dots stay in place, but are removable and they're much easier to see in low light situations. Try it. It's cheap and it works.

I do the same thing except even more basic...I use white electric tape and cut it in thin strips the size of the fret. Easier for me to see than dots.
