Question Epi Tbird pickguard?

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anybody know where you can buy spare pickguards (or scratchplates, depending on your word preference) for an Epiphone Thunderbird?

I have the 'goth' variant. I bought it because I like the matte black finish (not to mention the sound ) but hate the celtic circle on the pickguard. Was wondering if it's possible to buy the black/white eagle variant from the 'pro' edition anywhere. Its predominantly black with a white eagle, as opposed to the white with black eagle on the standard variant. Hope that makes sense. I've tried wdmusic.com, but they don't stock ones with the eagle and they dont fit epis anyway apparently

Any help appreciated

Many pickguard makers wont produce one with the bird for possible trademark/copyright reasons. Regular Epi pickguards show up on Ebay sometimes, but you may be better off to just get a blank one, and then find a local trophy shop or engraver to etch the bird for you then fill with acrylic paint.

Hope this isnt too late. I just finished my "Fenderbird", and my luthier built the body instead of me buying one. I ordered a pickguard from Guitar Center. I went in store and they were able to track one down at a wearhouse that stocks aftermarket items, apparently even hard to find ones. They didnt have the Gibson pickguards, but the Thunderbirds were in stock. I dont know that name of the dealer, but try your local GC and see if they can track it down. You probably want the bird on it instead of a blank one like i did!
