Epoxy stickiness

I epoxied a fretless neck, but after several weeks it still has some feel of slight stickiness. Any ideas how to correct this?
Thanks,
Bob

We epoxy stuff at work all the time, and if it's still sticky after being left out overnight then it usually means it's not done curing yet. We have a large walk-in oven set to 135 F so we'll put our epoxied parts in it for about an hour and that takes care of any stickiness. So if you happen to have an oven big enough to put a neck in then set it to its lowest temperature and put it in for half an hour or so, then see what happens.

I would be very hesitant to stick a bass neck into an oven. There is a good chance that you didnt add enough hardener and it may stay at this state of stickyness forever. You may have to get some sort of solvent and strip the epoxy off. I say wait a couple more weeks, if its not cured, strip it. Depending on temperature and humidity, it can vary cure times.

You didnŽt use epoxy intended for gluing, right? The one that comes in tubes is mostly generic, "for gluing stuff" only... YouŽll want epoxy for coating, or the marine-grade (intended for laminating boat structures) stuff.

Examples of the good stuff are System-3 Mirror Coat and West System 106.

Sounds like you may have your mixing ratio off a bit. Meaning that it sounds like its a little slack on the hardner. If that is the case stripping it off and starting over would be the best thing.
On the other hand if it is simply a temperature issue affecting the cure, applying some heat could kick it over. I wouldn't put it in an oven, but maybe try a heat gun or heat lamp as not to get it too hot, To much heat could damage the neck.
