Ergonomics and Balance, a Problem Solved

Sign in to disble this ad
I posted this over in the "Girl Bass Players" thread, and thought I'd just reference it here. I've had issues with being able to deal with the most practical aspect of playing the bass: Being able to reach what I want to play without pain or other pesty problems...

I've got "Peripheral Neuropathy" and associated issues... it's not degenerative- and it's pretty common- but it means my nerves move signal to and from my brain relatively slowly (my reactions are quick enough), and some positions cause low-level (sometimes higher-level) discomfort.

So... I've come up, after years of "dealing with it" and not being able to realize my own potential as a player, a solution, linked here to this thread. It's just for general edification, and posted in the hope that someone else may also benefit.

Thanks for having a look.

At least on this end that's a bad link... an extra http:// in it, but after removing it, it dumps me to a wiki page on hypertext protocol.

Yup, the second : is missing from the address, so I think most browser do a search and the wiki page is the first result.

For a similar reason and to remove the weight of a hanging bass from my shoulder/back, I tried similar relocations and eventually I just adapted a bass to mount on a Steinberger EUB stand:

^^ That's it! Thanks Megadan.

And glad it may be of some use, Todd.

Mongo2, interesting angle- I like the idea of not having to wear the instrument at all! Might try something like that with my old Squier, see how it suits. Nice bass!
