Does anyone know if Fender or any aftermarket company is making the vitntage tuners like they use on the reissues?
Im gassing over the MIM 50s reissue P-bass at a local dealer for a good price. I can trade in for money off two MIM's i'm not really playing now to get the price down...but. I really didnt think the rolled edges were that great and my MIM P bass modded sounds as good , it those dang tuners i love. they are the long shaft clovers with rivet reverse turning...anyone know if they are avalible?

Personally, those reverse tuners drive me nuts, but if you like 'em, that's cool.

Thanks man. I also found out MF has them but back ordered until 08 I fear the hole in my MIM headstock and its stock tuners is smaller then the post for those do you or anyone else know? Nothing i cant drill out. I hate to admit this i never have ever swapped out tuner..never seen the point never had a bad one. I'm only doing it cuz i love the look of those things so much i cant stant it. The reverse is cool too.

I got the Gotoh vintage from guitarpartsresource.. I like them..Gotoh makes the Fender reissues too. The only difference is the "Fender" stamp on the back. Not worth the extra $$$ IMO.

Thanks also but none of them say Fender on them anyhow even Fenders. Did they drop in or did you have to drill the holes bigger?

Lighter (open gear) tuners help give a more vintage, thinner sound. Heavier (die cast) tuners give a darker sound. They are not the b all and end all in tone, but they are part of the equation.
