Fender 75 Reissue Jazz Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Fender USA 75 reissue jazz bass.
I want to change the bridge. Someone recommend me a hipshot, but I do not know whether it is good. What do you guys recommend? Has anyone changed the bridge of Fender 75 reissue?
Also, would it be better if I set up my bass from guitar center?
Thanks !

What don't you like about your current bridge ans setup? What kind of music do you play and what sound are you going for?

I hear buzzing from the bridge. I play the bass at church. I have no idea how to setup... any thoughts?

I would take it in for a setup at a reputable music store, if they say something is wrong with the bridge and recommend you change it do so. I wouldn't ask if they think it should be done because they will often say yes in order to make money off of your order. The problem as it exists could be as simple as the string not sitting flush against the current bridge. Hope all works out for the best. Cheers.

Sometimes the springs behind the saddles will buzz, but this shouldn't be anything you can hear amplified. You should go in to more detail, I'm sure the guys here can help diagnose your problems before you go off and buy a new $100 bridge. Fender has been using the same style bridge for 50 years so the basic design is solid, might just need some adjusting.

Sounds like that typical spring buzz. It IS annoying but it shouldn't be a problem unless you play without an amp.

If it is the spring rattling you can probably stretch it out a little bit. Not sure the springs on a bridge actually do that much for a bass, yes for guitars but they really don't have that much tension to really impact anything.
