Fender American Deluxe Precision with BEAD tuning

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey y'all! I'm looking to purchase for myself a new American Deluxe Precision bass. I wanted to get a five string model but they stopped when they came out with the new model in 2010.

So I'm looking at the new model and wondering if I can set it up with BEAD tuning using the correct gauged strings. I'm concerned with the string retainer on the A string. Will an E string gauged at 105 fit in the retainer and will it affect the E string in a bad way? Can it be removed easily if it does not work with the E string?

Also I have read from a few people on here that Fender P-basses do not play well with a B string. Can anyone else share their experience with this as well. Maybe that's the reason why Fender stopped making the American deluxe five string...

Any help is a appreciated! Thanks!

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.
