fender bass necks?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi sorry for a) this is in the wrong place (its been a while since i last posted) and b) if this sounds pedantic,

however im desperately trying to find a left handed maple fender neck to fit on my mexican fender jazz bass,

only problem is i can find licenced ones and while i dont doubt they are excellent quality and exactly the same as the fender ones, i was kinda looking for an official one.

any ideas? as ive been looking for one for a while now.

If you want quality, buy an Allparts LIC by Fender. That brand is the best I've ever played on in a Fender replacement neck. The Mighty Mite brand is cheaper, and trust me, you can tell. Here's a link to a guy who finishes the necks by Allparts, does a great job, and sells them for well under 200.00 new. His ebay store = http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZpostlangQQhtZ-1
These replacements are built exactly to fender specs. I just got a P bass neck that plays much better than most factory fender necks.

He could help you with info on the left handed matter also, Im sure....

You're going to find it very difficult to buy an official left handed Fender neck. Fender stopped selling seperate necks about three years ago, and left handed instruments are rare enough as is.

Allparts is probably your best bet.

I'll third the Allparts idea. They are fine quality and LH necks are available finished or unfinished. I suggest going through somebody who is an Allparts dealer rather than going direct because you can save a fair amount of money in most cases.

If it HAS to be a Fender, then I think you'll be stuck searching the used market.

In addition to the Allparts recommendation, why not look at Warmoth. Just look at this beauty:

Warmoth and Allparts are well-regarded on this board.

Musicians Friend sell Fender replacement bodies and necks. I would doubt they have a Lefty neck in stock, but can probably order one for you.

I would say in long run it would be cheaper to get a used bass and take the neck from it. The cost of necks alone can be as much as a used bass.
