Fender Geddy Lee - can you change the truss rod nut to a hex?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone know if you can change out the truss rod nut on a Fender Geddy Lee Bass so that it has a hex nut instead of the old style phillips? Also, I'd like to carve out that area so that the truss rod is adjustable without taking off the neck. Anyone tried this?
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that Nino Valenti has routed the body for truss rod access on at least one Geddy Lee bass, if not more. Why would you want to replace the phillips with a hex nut? You can use a right-angle phillips screwdriver to access the truss rod once you have the small channel routed in the body. Something like this: http://www.wihatools.com/161serie.htm should work nicely.
