Fender GL Tuned BEAD

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

Sorry if this was discussed before, as I didn't see it when I did a search.

The other night I tuned my Geddy to BEAD to see how it felt. It was actually quite good, with the strings that are on it (not sure which ones, they were on it when I bought it). The strings were not too floppy, and the playability was still very good. My question is, will tuning it this way, then going back to standard tuning hurt the neck? I know that the Geddy neck is thinner than most. Most of the time I am using standard EADG tuning (with drop D sometimes). Rarely would I use the BEAD tuning.

Thanks,

Lyle

I wouldn't imagine so. I used to tune my GL down to B,F#,C#,G#, and its still fine. Its weird to setup, though, i don't like removing the neck to tweak the truss rod, so I don't reccomend switching string guages up.
