Fender Jazz neck 1992 fake?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a chance to buy a bunch of parts for a "project" bass. It sounds like fun to me but I can't tell if the neck is a genuine Fender.

It looks almost new, the date on neck butt is 1992, on heel it is stamped Hector Montes. The paper heel sticker has 7 lines with 2 lines initialed. The headstock decal is a Silver Fender logo above "Serial Number E 94540", followed by JAZZ BASS above "Made in USA".

It comes with a totally beat up natural finished body made of 4 pieces of laminated wood with a very grungy precision bass pickup.

Any clues here about the origin or value? He's asking $300.

Any advice is appreciated

My '83 is E 3xxxxx. That is six digits after the E. I don't know of 80's basses with 5 digits.
