Fender Jazz Neck Replacement/Fix

Sign in to disble this ad
I did a search and didn't find exactly what I was looking for so apologies up front if I have repeated a thread.

I have a MIM Fender Jazz bass and am having some troubles with the neck. I believe there is a twist in it. One side has a nice bow to it while the other side is dead flat. Hard to get the action set low enough on it for my liking. I talked to Fender and they said I can take it to a tech and get it looked at for possible replacement. I am also considering just replacing it with something better.
My question is this: Has anyone had this problem and come up with a fix? If I wanted to replace it with something else of better quality ( double truss rod, graphite reinforced, etc. ) does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

I'm thinking about replacing my MIM Jazz neck with a Warmoth. I've got a wicked bad dead spot and I'm freakin' sick of it. Warmoth has a better truss rod design and steel stiffening bars. They'll also build it out of pretty much any kind of wood you want.

I checked out Warmoths site and they do have some pretty cool stuff - may be a better option than screwing around with the old Fender neck. I don't want to have the same problem over and over.

as much I like Fenders ( I own several) their necks can be problematic. A couple of the more expensive ones I own need constant truss rod tweaking, and the cheapest Squier I have has a rock solid neck!! I suspect wood quality is over-looked at Fender.
