Question Fender MIM Jazz bass fret buzzing - BIG TIME

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello folks,

Well, I made the mistake of purchasing a Fender FSR Jazz bass off of Ebay (MIM). It's a beautiful instrument, but I've got fret buzzing big time from about the 10th fret or so up the neck on the A and D strings...it's terrible. The neck has a mild bow as I believe it should have, and the action seems reasonable. The bass has a "Badass II" bridge on it, and the strings really seem low on that end of the bass, which I think is causing some of the problem. Does anyone know if this bridge is adjustable as far as string heighth? The screws are set screws, but they are microscopic in size, and I can't tell if that's adjustable or not. I don't have an allen wrench that small. Any input is appreciated. Also, why is this bridge so popular, I don't understand it at this point?

Thanks,
Brent

.050 is too small. It fit but slipped on mine.
1.5mm metric fits it perfectly.
Not the 1/16" inch SAE

Thanks a bunch for the info. I've downloaded a Fender manual and I'll get relief measured and find a allen wrench. I've got some small ones, but none that small.

Weird. I just double checked with mine (since you mentioned it) and the .050 seems to fit snug. My BAII is from ~1990. Think that makes a difference?
