Fender Pickup Covers

I've been toying with the idea of adding a neck pickup cover to my Jazz Bass Special which has no pickguard so it requires something a little taller than the standard (the regular sized one sits right on the strings). Does anyone know of anything/place that sells such a thing? P-Bass width? In black?

Just get the black one and use some black PG material to make a couple of shims under the ears.
Could be easily done with a Dremel tool and glue the shims under the ears

That was the plan if I couldn't find something taller. Thanks!

I think it could look very good if you take the time to polish the shims so they perfectly match the contour of the ears.

You might consider getting one for a 5 string bass and have a machinist re-bend it narrower for you. That would increase the height also.

Good idea about the shims... but a black pickup cover... ehhh. Guess I'm just an old-school chrome guy. I don't even like gold hardware that much.

I've got the chrome ones on my regular Jazz Bass, but the Jazz Bass Special has all black hardware already on a Pearl White body so I'm fixin to match it. Keep it simple.
