Who makes this vintage type cover ? I ordered one on e-bay and it's not the same. I'm looking for the more squarer-shape vintage type. The one I got is rounder. |

is of the rounder type. Haven't had any luck finding one with
the correct squarer corners.
So, Fender couldn't find/use their original tooling?
These things aren't even close to the profile of the originals.

As opposed to this type?
Fender sells both. What am I missing?

The one he posted resembles the second one, however it is bent in a manner that makes it appear to be squarer.
It's almost like it is somewhere in between the two you posted. |

What I was trying to say (rather poorly, I add) was that I have been
looking high and low for a proper reproduction of the pickup cover
shown in the OP's image. My current P has the std. Fender cover, (see
image below) and it's rounded / domed to the point that it really loses
that old school Fender design vibe. Yeah, I'm one of those players
that really cares about aesthetics, so it does bug me.

| | | | Conclusion:
The original '57 cover is different and looks much better.
Might be quite expensive to find one.
Thanks for all answers |

go here, then to Bass section, then scroll 1/2 way down to part #PCPB973C.
much closer to correct appearance than Fender's current cover.
Hope this helps.

After that, they became very rounded. The OP is trying to find a 'reissue' of the proper squared pickup covers. The fender AV 57/62 Ps have the inaccurate rounded covers.

Hope this helps. | Has anyone tried one of these PU covers?
I emailed these guys and they said it's 1/8" wider than the Fender piece. I had an allparts that was way too wide and too thick and solid to bend to fit to a factory-drilled AVRI body. Would have probably worked well on a 5-stringer. Just don't want to be back in that same situation and have wasted money on such nonsense. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
