Fender string trees, different heights?

I recently bought a replacement string tree (original round style) for my Precision, which has a neck from a '97 Am Std. The new tree is shorter than the old one (that is, it pulls the strings closer to the peghead). It looks like it's really too short.

I no longer have the package, but I think it's Fender part number 099-4913-000. Should I have gotten 007-5561-000 instead? Does anyone know for sure if one is taller than the other?
