Fender US Jazz V bridge question

Sign in to disble this ad
Can anyone recommend a direct replacement for a '06 US Fender Jazz V bridge? It has the string-through body option and four mounting screws, I'd like to find something that will not require additional holes and mount right on. I can't seem to find any info if the Badass V or one of the Hipshots will fit without any modification. Here's a pic:

As long as you buy a badass V pre slotted, it should be a direct replacement.

from the pics I've seen it looks like the badass V has 6 screws instead of four:

Do you know for sure if the middle four will line up, and if the string through holes line up as well? At lease from this pic it doesn't look like they will line up with the originals.

Being on Guam it is going to be a hassle if I don't buy the correct one as it already takes a week or two to get here USPS and as you can see from my pic I'm in dire need of a new bridge on my main gigging bass.

The more I research the badass V the more I think it may not be an exact fit for my needs, it seems the string-thru holes are too far back compared to the mounting holes.

Has anyone here replaced the bridge on their US Fender V, if so which one did you use? I'm thinking one of the hipshot models may fit?

Well, all i can say for sure is.... i replaced an MIA deluxe 4 string bridge with a badass IV and had to do no mods whatsoever. I've been contemplating doing the same with my PV but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Sorry i can't give you a for sure on that, it would no doubt suck if you did have to mod it and have to send it back or what have you. Maybe someone else that has more experience with the badass V will chime in.

yeah, the badass IV is a great bridge and I've switched a few fenders in my day to one of them as well. But it seems the V version is more specific on what it will fit. I'm hoping that someone whom has done a bridge replacement on a fender 5str will chime in on what will fit. I did contact Hipshot with this question, we'll see what they say once they email back. I'm sure there is something out there that will fit without any modification.

my fender jazz

Sorry bro, but my fender is a mexican deluxe active jazz 5 string, and I'm going to have to drill all new holes in my body. The Badass V is a 6 screw bridge and none of the holes in my bass from the stock bridge line up with it. kinda sucks but oh well.

I did have some luck on this if anyone needs the info in the future. Hipshot returned my email and said they have a direct fit for this bridge and is available by special order directly from them, so that's the route I'm going to go unless anyone else can recommend another brand that is an exact fit.
