File nut for bass

Anyone know where I can get a file set for nut action on my bass other than having to order it? I mean, does local hardware stores or home depot type of place carry this? Or even a guitar shop?

i use Nicholson Hobby File Set .....set of 6 i think....should be able to find it at your local hardware store or something like em ....they work great for bass n guitar nuts ....i'm pretty fussy about nut height!

for me nut tweaking can really bring a project axe into it's own......nut height too high or too low is prolly the most common fault i find in lower end guitars and basses and some expensive ones too.

A trick I learned from someone else....

Wrap a piece of 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper around the appropriate size drill bit. It actually works well as a make-shift nut file, and all the parts are available at your local hardware store.
