filler and sealer or Primer?

Do you really need to use grain filler and then sanding sealer on the body if it is going to be painted? Why not just plenty of lacquer primer properly sanded smooth?

Yeah - but until a mod moves it, he's asking here.

If you use a very high-build primer, you might get away with it. The problem with lacquer primer is that it's so soft that you'll break through it on all the edges and need to rebuild it all over again to get a contiguous coverage.

I have used a two part epoxy sanding-sealer a few times, and if the vehicle and aromatic compatibility's no problem with subsequent coats/colors, that's a good idea instead.
