filling screw holes....

Sign in to disble this ad
hey folks,

i'm about to replace the stock tuners on my SX with the hipshot HB7s... but the holes from the old tuners are very close to where i need to drill new holes...i'd like to fill them for obvious reasons

any suggestions on what sort of epoxy of sorts i should use to fill them?

i already have the syringes to get into the holes... so that's not a problem

I have used epoxy before and if you can inject it into the holes and make sure it dries level with the surface go for it. Most people prefer to fill wood with wood though, so dowels, toothpicks etc would work also since it is just allowing you to drill close, not to actually provide structural force.

I'd be concerned about using epoxy - my fear would be that your drill bit till could tend to walk off it and go off-target. I'm not sure this would happen, but if it does you're in trouble. My suggestion would be to fill with wood.
