Finding the Right Nut

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an Ibanez BTB-5CRW that I am trying to get a higher nut for. I can't get the buzz out of the bass when the neck is straight.

Where can I lookup the correct sizing for the nut on my bass? I am fine with doing the work myself, but I can't find the right nut.

I doubt that it's the nut, causing the buzz, unless it's only the open strings that buzz; once you have fretted a string, the nut is no longer part of the equation.

You'll have a harder time getting an unbuzzy bass, with a straight, no-relief-whatsoever neck.

More info is needed...

Damn, I'm dumb. You were right, I stuck a scrap piece of wood under the strings at the nut to try it with a higher "nut" and as predicted, the fretted notes obviously still buzzed.
