first fret BUZZZZ

I bought a new bass (Ibanez SR900) and took it to the "best tech in town". After the setup, the bass felt nice, except for an unacceptable buzz on the first fret. The buzz occurs when I play an F,Bb,Eb, and occasionally, Ab.
I took it back to the guy, and he said that I was playing too hard. The best he could do was raise the action up really high for the times when I really dig in.

The strings I'm using now are Elixir lights: G-045, D-065, A-080, E-100 which are slightly thinner than the ones that came with the bass. The original strings were 045 065 085 105.

JC, when you say first fret do you mean first next to the nut or first next to pickups?

Im guessing first next to the nut, because its nearly impossible to get fret buzz on the very last fret.

Try adding a little relief.

I believe I already mentioned: F,Bb,Eb,Ab.
If you still don't get it, what I mean is the lowest note next to the open strings.
