first project bass
A friend of mine went to college and left behind several of his guitars, on being some sort of squire p bass that he got on craigslist for cheap several years ago. I told him if he was willing to sell it, id like to use it for a project bass, and he was fine with it. I still have to buy it from him so i. Can inspect it further, but here are a list of the major things that were wrong with it when i played it about two weeks ago.
1.) Whatever was holding up the pick ups is gone, because they are inside the bass.
2.) The input jack doesnt work (could be soldering)
3.) The a string tuning knob isnt in the best condition.
Again i still need to buy it and check it out a little bit better, but i think its worth fixing and using as a back up to my jazz.
You can fix number 1 with a couple cut up pieces of mouse pad and number 2 is about a 5 minute fix if you know how to solder. I tend to replace the input jack whenever I have to do anything to them at all because they wear out over time and it's just easier to replace than to resolder and then discover that the contact is worn down and loose a couple weeks later.
