Fitting a 22 fret neck on a 20 fret pbass

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a 20 fret pbass that has a fretless neck on it currently and I want to swap it for a fretted neck (for several reasons). The trouble is that, I live in Nigeria so getting a new neck is next to impossible and very expensive.

I do happen to have a fretted Jazz bass neck but it has 22 frets. I was thinking of putting the 22 fret neck into the Pbass and then moving the bridge closer to the neck to compensate for the longer neck.

The neck fit okay in the body and I can't really think of a reason why it wouldn't work. It would effectively move the pickups a bit nearer to the bridge, but that might be okay. It has a retrofitted jazz bass bridge pickup BTW. I have also included a picture and as you can see there is plenty of room to move the bridge forward.

Anyone with any similar experience or suggestions?

Thanks
