may I ask two obvious questions? sorry, I'm sure you're sick and tired of this but I'm curious!
1: Did it affect the sound in any noticable way/does it hinder the string changing process in any way?
2: Where did you get the brass nut from, and how much did it cost?
thanks! I'm sorely tempted to try this. |
Not a problem - it took me about two weeks of research and a fair few emails to get it all sorted out, the least I can do is save everybody else the time so they can play more bass
1 - I think the tone is a touch brighter now than when it had the Mk.II JAN. However, I was expecting that, and maybe a little extra sustain - so any perceived difference could just be good old psycho-acoustics at play.
As mentioned below, you need to be a little careful when changing strings that you don't move the screws too much. They're pretty easy to adjust though, as all you have to do is loosen the string and pull it to one side while you turn the screw.
2 - I ordered mine through a local Warwick distributor (Brisbane, Queensland, Australia). The guys were jerks, quoted me one price then charged me extra. On closer inspection the nut turned out to be second hand - there were still remnants of glue from the previous installation. Still, I got what I needed - now I don't have to go back there
