Fix my new Tweed case?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got this a few months ago and the seller would need to send it back to G&G (or Fender). The handle let go where it rivets to the case body.

It would cost $40.+ to send it back. Any tips on the fix?

Thanks, Bob

If pop rivets wouldn't work you could nut and bolt it. Just saw or dremel off the ends of the bolts and it should hold pretty good. That's totally DIY way of doing it. You'll prob have to drill out some width for that anyway. Good luck.

Buy some decorative bolts with rounded heads, and use acorn nuts on the inside so that you won't have exposed threads on the ends. This requires getting the right length bolts, but that isn't too hard. If the rivets pulled out, put washers on the inside to expand the area bearing the weight.

Do you think I would have to have it sticking through to the inside? I was hoping to have it under the plush material.

You should be able to carefully peel back the plush, install the bolts/nuts, then use contact cement to re-secure the plush. I'm not looking at the case, so I'm generalizing - sometimes it's not that easy to get at.
