Fret buzz on 19th fret of D string only

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all,

I was wondering what would cause and how difficult a repair it would be to fix a fret buzz that only occurs on the 19th fret of the D string on an '97 Ibanez SR800 4string? Thanks for any information that can be provided.

sounds like a low fret maybe? Take it in for a set up, and tell them about and they will file the rest down to suit. Seems weird its only one fret tho.

Did you buy the bass new or used? Has it always been that way?

To wear a single fret down to a point were it buzzes but none others do.... simply means someone has spent a lot of hours playing a single note.

It could be a bad fret job from the factory, in which case it hasnt had a fret filing since it was bought, which could happen I guess.

I dont think its anything serious like a neck twist if its only the one fret thats giving you trouble. But then again its hard to know without seing the bass....
