fret buzz on E and A strings

Sign in to disble this ad
There is a slight amount of fret buzz on the higher register on my Musicman Stingray bass. It is most apparent on the 8th, 12th, and around the 15th-20th frets of the bass. This is only on the E and A strings.

The action isn't particularly low, so I think it has more to do with the frets' leveling. But I'm not sure if this is it either, because when I look at the frets, it looks like there's hardly any wear on them at all. I got the instrument barely used.

But is there any way to fix this? The action is already somewhat high, so I don't think raising the action has much to do with it. I actually like a LITTLE bit of buzz, sort of like that little growly clicking sound that Flea gets, but not this much.

Anyone have a solution to this?

Hey there,

I turned the truss rod with no success..

Then I adjusted the string height and made them higher. There is no longer any buzz but the action is sort of high....I'm going to keep messing around.

I checked the frets and they are PERFECTLY level, so I know that's not it. The neck looks very very straight.
