Fret Buzz only on frets 6-10

I recently bought a new Lakland Skyline Darryl Jones 4. I really like it, but there is one thing that is annoying me: I can't get the setup right!

Normally I would expect that when the truss rod was tightened and the strings lowered, the strings would tend to buzz below the 5th fret, and when the truss rod was loosened and the strings lowered, the strings would buzz above 12th fret.

Now, I was hoping I could find a happy medium where they tend to buzz evenly all over the neck, but my problem is that no matter what I do, the lowered strings tend to buzz around the frets in the middle only - frets 6 to 10.

Is this normal? Otherwise, is it something I can fix?

My other bass is a Lakland 55-94, which is absolutely perfect, so maybe I'm just spoilt...
