fret-buzz and string question

Sign in to disble this ad
hi,i have a lakland 55-01 and i am doing a setup(i have basic setup experience) and having an issue where no buzz from 1st to 7th fret and no buzz from 12th fret to last fret.i am having a slight buzz issue at the 8th-9th-10th-11th frets its worse on the played A&E strings.ok,question is should i do some more tweaking to:truss rod?action?or? the strings are like 1-1/2 weeks old.also i am tuned 1/2 step down and using nickel round wounds 45-125. any suggestions would be great.
also would changing to a flatwound string eliminate the buzzing?..

Sounds like the neck might be bowing back slightly, and some bridge height adjustment on the E, and A saddles. The strings are fairly new and half step down shouldn't cause fret buzz, believe me I have basses in drop D, C, and B.
