Fret buzz when releasing fingers from frets

Sign in to disble this ad
A couple months ago I bought an Ibanez Soundgear 305. I've been having some trouble with fret buzzing. When I play a note there's no buzz as the note is sustained - it's as I release my fingers from frets after a note that there's a buzzing noise. I'm sure that it's not a technique problem, I've played multiple other basses, and haven't experienced this type of buzz on any of them. I have tried several things to fix this, including changing the strings (from the originals, to DR Fat Beams, to Warwick Yellow Nickel strings), adjusting the action, and adjusting the trust rod, all to to prevail. I have also tried other Soundgear 305s, which haven't had the problem. Is there anything else I could try to fix this? It's really pretty annoying. I'm thinking of taking it into a shop and getting a professionally-done setup, do you have any other suggestions?

Shim, then flatwounds.

Seriously, get some professional intervention. FWIW, a decent tech, when presented with the problem instrument, will say "show me".

That does sound bizzarre. I agree taking it to a good tech is best idea. Ask him to evaluate it after telling and showing him the problem. To see if its covered by Ibanez warranty for fix or replace. Since your probably past the return for exchange time limit with store you got it from. I cant think what could cause the problem since you dont have it on other basses.
