Of the woods typically used for fingerboards, ebony is the hardest followed by rosewood and maple. Maple would be a visually an odd choice for a Soundgear bass. Of the synthetics, phenolics are usually the material of choice. All are hard wearing.
A replacement neck can be purchased from an Ibanez dealer. If one is not nearby can contact Hoshino directly online. I
banez repair centers. Ibanez used to require that the old neck be sent to the factory before the replacement neck was sent out.
Why does your neck require a new fingerboard?
