Fretboard thickness the same across neck?

Sign in to disble this ad
Is the fretboard supposed to be the same thickness from nut to pocket, or is it thinner at the top of the neck (high frets)?

The one I'm looking at now is a few mm thicker from 1st fret through 5th, then it tapers down.

my basses' fingerboards have the same thickness all around. Are you trying to buy this bass? if the fingerboards tapers where the neck joints the body beware: it could be a warping neck and somebody planed the fingerboard to make it ok
