Fretless ABG Tech in Houston?

Sign in to disble this ad
I wonder if anyone here happens to know, or know of, a luthier in the Houston, Texas vicinity who has experience with Acoustic Bass Guitars, particularly of the fretless variety.

I know so little about the technical aspects of these things myself, and I really don't have the time to experiment. I'd really rather have someone do a setup on my MK Firefly 5 for me.

I know it's "not quite right" but can't quite put my finger on what would make her "better". These stock bronze strings have gotta go, for one thing, but I'm not sure where to go beyond that.

Appreciate any finger-pointing I can get.

Talk to Robert Cheany at Texas Guitar Co. in Katy. He is the only one that I let set up my basses. Will be well worth the drive. PM me for questions/more info.

Danny at Danny D's guitar Hacienda in League City is great with acoustics but I don't know about AGBs. The priciples are the same and he does play bass so I'm betting he could help.

Oh, EXCELLENT! I know him! And the drive for me is about five minutes - they're on North Fry Road and I live on North Mason!

Thanks, good to know Robert's the guy, he's set up several of my acoustic guitars, and seems to know his stuff!
