I recently bought a cheap "MusicMan Stringray" by OLP. I removed the fret bars and replaced the passive with active electronics. I now need to know how to finalize the setup on the neck (this is my first experience as a bass player for many years with a fretless setup). The sound this bass makes is incredible but the strings set way to high off the neck and I am wondering how flat or curve plained (sp?) should the neck be to bring down the the action. It has spots at fret 12 where there is a great deal of fret reasonance or ratltle. This OLP looks exactly like the Musicman and the hardware is an exact copy (notwithstanding that it is creaper stuff all around). If I knew how to post pictures here I would be happy to let you see what it looks like (a patient tutorial on pic insertion might be in order). Thanks!

with frets the string went down to the top of the fret, now it goes all the way to the board, so you need to lower both ends of the string (nut and bridge)

Do you suggest replacing the nut or filing it down?
