Fretless setup for nut....

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,
I recently bought a Fretless Curbow Petite. I absolutely love this bass, however, the action could indeed be much lower. It currently measures 2.5mm at the 12th fret on the G string. There is a little bit of relief in the neck at the moment which I'm sure I'll have to adjust to make the neck completely straight, but my main concern is the nut. The nut seems to be a bit higher than I expected. Aren't nuts on fretlesses supposed to be ALMOST on the fingerboard? Can anyone here guide me to a website that would have detailed information on setting this up? I've checked GW's website and there is no help on this, likewise. I've seen Fender's tutorial.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

BTW...here are some pics of her if you haven't seen her. I'm a sucker for showing her off now.

I had the same question a couple weeks ago and found my answer in the sticky Defretting thread... 0.015" (0.381mm). I didn't get mine down that low, it's below .020", and that is far better than where it started.
