G&L L-2500 - Truss rod issue

Sign in to disble this ad
While doing a set-up on the relatively new G&L, I noticed the truss rod was already as loose as it will go. There's no neck relief and I can't seem to get anymore from the truss rod. Action is super high from the 12th fret up and already buzzes on the 1st thru 3rd frets. I raised the saddles to get rid of the buzzing, but now the action is really high. Is there anything that can be done re: truss rod or do I need to shim neck or replace neck altogether???

If the truss rod is completely loose and the neck is back bowed then call G&L. They offer a 10yr warranty if they are willing to replace it then that would be your best choice. There is the option to try heavier gauge strings. It's repairable but consider how much of your time and expense you are willing to put into it. The repair method doesn't require removing the fret board. Neither the non-compression truss rod alone or a shim will fully resolve this issue. Good luck.
