Problem: My g string kinda runs off the neck of of my fender jazz 24V. Is this a problem with the bridge? If so, any recommendations regarding bridge replacement?

There's a strong possibility that your neck is not sitting square in the neck pocket. You can simply loosen the 4 neck screws about 1 or 1 1/2 turns and push the neck up towards the top horn until the E and G strings have equal distances to the ends of the fingerboard. Then tighten the neck screws and make sure the neck doesn't shift in the process.

Ehhh oozing of fender quality! Did the nut break? Is it running off at the 1st fret or where the body meets the neck?

Where is this happening? Do you have a photo?

It's probably, as T2 posted, a neck alignment issue, no big deal.

Thanks for the responses...@JLS... happens close around the 10th-12th fret. I don't have pics (will try to post). However, at a glance the bass looks fine. The G string is a little close to the edge of the fret board. It becomes a problem if I use vibrato (side to side)...it will run-off the fret board. It limits me, especially when soloing. I should mention that I detune my bass a full step- down, but I don't have this problem with any of my three other basses (two of which are fenders, the other is an MTD). @ Grendle the nut is in tact. @testingtwo, I will look at the alignment.

Possible distance issue in nut setup. Occasionally nut is measured as non-central block measurement but "side-of string" measurement issue.
If this were to be the case the problem would have been apparent through-out the life of the instrument. Size of string may affect this to a greater or lesser degree. A change of string could demonstrate more of this problem.

But it all means little without a picture. It might be a neck alignment issue: there again, unless the neck were substantially loose, it would have been seen previously. There are too many variables without a picture and more background.
How long has this issue been observed? Is it possible it was there through-out the life of the instrument? Has the neck been taken off for any reason? Strings changed?, ect, etc

G string run-off

Hey @ John Grey,

I will post the a pic in a few. I bought this instrument used. I know for certain that the neck has been taken off (and other adjustments). I bought this from a retail store, so I can only speak for the time that I have had the instrument. It has been an issue as long as I've had this bass.

Don't listen to these NUT issue BRIDGE issue, Fender quality issue dudes. This can happen to any bolt on neck. G&L even has a section on this in it's owners manual see page 3 point 8. https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=h...2FGLmanual.pdf

See this thread the OP had his fixed in a jiffy when he just listened to me and did what needs doing.

Is my neck out of alignment? w/pics

HA HA HA!

"Doctor, I called because I'm not feeling well."

"Take two aspirins and call me in the morning."

"But you haven't seen what's wrong....?"

"I don't have to SEE you, I get sick people calling me all the time."

ShiZ, I just take the time to read the op and all his posts. Pretty common issue with basses, but not with humans, ha ha ha .
