Gecko 6 string spacing

Sign in to disble this ad
Hope this is the right forum..
I just ordered a Gecko 6 from Warmoth, and will order a bridge for it soon. It's routed for Hipshot A. Warmoth list a a string spacing of 16,5 mm, and a with @ 24th fret of 83,8 mm.. Hipshot deliver bridges down to 17 mm string spacing. Will this do? Can I go for 18 mm?

According to the Hipshot website, they offer an A style bridge with a .656" string spacing, which is roughly 16.6mm.

If you went wider, there would be no guarantee of mounting fit or that the strings would not span off the edges of the fingerboard in the upper register. Since the Hipshot bridge sits fairly far back on the Gecko body, I'd have some concern the bridge would encroach on the edge bevel as well.

Fired off a mail to Warmoth. Guess I'll have to wait until I have the body and neck, and then measure myself.
