Getting new strings for setup, where to get a few replacement nuts for MusicMan gear.

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a couple basses I am going to be getting setup, my Music Man Stingray 4 in Drop C, using the 124 drop tuning set Circle K strings, and a Sterling Ray35 in Drop C as well, but instead of the low B( or A) I'll have it tuned CGCFBb. Now, I'm wondering where I can get a few replacement nuts for these basses that'll work as well as the originals. Does EB/MM offer these parts? How much would I be looking to spend as well.

Thanks, Tyler.

Why don't you contact Ernie Ball Music Man directly as I'm sure they'll know the answer....

And phone calls usually work better than just an email....

If you're really going to get into messing with string gauges, you're probably going to want to learn how to cut your own nuts.

Stewmac.com has nut blanks, and raw nut material, and all the annoying tools you'll need. Stewmac stuff is a bit spendy, but if you're gonna be "Mr. Custom Gauges" then you'll enjoy making your own.

I'm glad I took the time to learn how.

Why not just buy a cheap set of files and file the nut that is currently on the bass?

If you're getting these basses setup for these strings, filing the nut slots should be part of the work.

Yea, that'll provide even tension across the fretboard with their drop tuning set. 130-136 is what you usually see for B, so why not a 124 for C?

I've used 115 and find that almost too big. 110 has worked great for me. But to each his own
