| | | | Getting tuners painted black? I can't seem to find any good replacements for my Squier VM Jazz tuners, and I'm doing blacked out hardware. I was wondering if there was any way I could, or someone else (like an auto body shop) could paint them a metallic black color. |

| | | | Painting them is a terrible idea. They get handled too often. Gun blue might or might not do it. |

| | | | I would powder coat them if I were you. Although, if you're going to spend the money on powdercoating you may as well just buy new black tuners.

Gotoh makes the black tuners found on the Aerodyne bass if I recall.
Wilkinson makes black Fender-style tuners as well.
For best fit you might be stuck with Guitar Fetish, they sell a black Fender-style tuner with a different plate shape than the Wilkinson, might be more appropriate for an import bass.

| | | Don't be that guy that painted your chrome hardware black.
It just doesn't work and people like me end up buying them and wondering why
the previous owner ruined perfectly good hardware.
Here is the Talk Bass thread... Removing paint from chrome
And here are pictures of "painted" chrome after about a year |
