Gibson Bridges on Fenders?

Sign in to disble this ad
Looks like huge mass bridges are hot on jazzes.

Anybody have any experience crossing over bridge styles?

the string spacing is different for Gibson and Fender. the strings won't line up with the pole pieces properly if you put a Gibson bridge on a Fender bass. if you want a higher mass bridge for a Fender, get a Badass II or Fender's high mass bridge.

Putting the classic 3-point Gibby bridge on a Fender would require drilling large holes...NOT a good idea. There are plenty of higher-mass bridges for Fenders.

Or just play it and enjoy it.

Also the way the bridge, neck positioning, etc. work on most Gibson basses makes a Gibson bridge too tall for most Fenders. That's why Leo Quann came out with the BA II bridge. He made the original BadAss to make a decent bridge for Gibsons. But in order to put that bridge on a Fender you had to route the body so the bridge would sit low enough to get decent action.
