Gibson truss rod nut

Hello everyone.

I have an 81 gibson victory bass that I got about a year ago, I was going to adjust the truss rod but Ive never done it before. Im not sure what the size of the nut is or what type of tool I need to adjust it.
I tried to look up the specs online, and I even found the owner's manual on a site. But the manual didn't tell me what I need to know, all it said about neck adjustment was to take it to an authorized gibson technician. Imagine that.
Hopefully I dont sound like a complete idiot. Im kind of new to all the technical stuff, and Ive never done anything with a truss rod or neck adjustments.
Any help or info would be great. Thanks.

Be careful doing this. Gibson necks are not quite as strong as Fender necks. I cracked the headstock on my Bass IV back a few months ago. If you feel like you can't get it tight enough STOP! I kept saying "one more little quarter turn."
Gibson has been known to install their truss rods incorrectly/sloppily.

All I have ever used is a 1/4" drive 5/16" socket with an extension.
