Going to Italy-What to bring?

Sign in to disble this ad
Well, I am going to Italy for an 8 day tour with my high school jazz band, and I am wondering what kind of accessories I should make sure to bring. I am already bringing an extra pair of strings, allen wrenches for setup, and that kind of stuff. Is there anything more I should know? I know all you experienced travelers will be able to name something for me! If it makes a difference, I am most likely going to bring my Schecter Studio 5 Fretless, unless the case I am getting is just a generic hard case, then I am bringing my Ibanez SR905 in its molded hard case (if I am trusting a hard case, I want my molded one).
Thanks!

Cables! Lots!

I wouldn't want to be stuck in a little village in Italy and my cables craps out. That would be tragic

They have tons of food, it's going to be so good! I wish I could take you but instead I will just have to say how good it was afterwards . Good call on cables, I forgot to list that, I am bringing every one I have. Where can I get extra amp fuses?

More strings 1 extra set may not be enough.

Thanks for thinking of me. You should be able to buy fuses at a hardware store. Take a good one in to match it.

Bring boxes of Zippo lighters. They go for big bucks there.

Learn enough Italian to order coffee and find a men's room. Watch out for pickpockets. Trying to cross a busy street on foot is akin to a European version of "Frogger". Here's a helpful phrase:

"Whatzamattau?"

chillax guys, i went on tour 2 italy, took a really rubbish ibanez 1980's blazer bass that was knackerd to hell, no spare strings or anything if somthing goes wrong improv round it, if you break a string at a gig u hvnt got time 2 change it so either have a spare instrument or learn your neck back to front.

English / Italian street vernacular for "What's the matter you?". Spelling is probably incorrect.

A jar of peanut butter. Everything closes from noon to early evening for a siesta, and depending on where you are you might need a snack.

I carried my bass dissassembled in a gig bag and popped it in the overhead bin FWIW. Have a ball!

Yea, it's going to be nice. I am bringing an amp but all I know about it so far is that it is a Hartke..But the school we are getting it from has something like 8 jazz bands and did a similar tour a month or two ago, so I doubt that they are messing around with crappy equipment. We are going to Montecatini Terme (40 miles from Tuscany), Florence, Pisa, Cesena, Ravenna, Rome (via Assisi), Soriano, and Corchiano. All in 8 days! And I can't take the neck off either of my basses because they are both neckthroughs. Forgot about duct tape, can't go wrong with that either. I've heard of the pickpockets, I'm going to be using these ultra lame money belts that go across your chest and are almost unnoticeable. I will not be the coolest cat around with them, but I may be the only one keeping my money.

Better look up "Vancoulu katzo" instead (dunno bout the spelling here either).
