what color hardware do you prefer with a black bass?

I prefer chrome on any bass only because it is the most durable. Both "gold" and black will flake off over time.

Of course chrome can flake as well, but it is still far more durable.

It really depends. If it's a maple fretboard, gold.
If it's en ebony fretboard, I go black for the stealth look.

However, I thought my Stingray turned out pretty cool with all black hardware and strings on a maple board. It was on accident, as I was planning to have a custom neck w/ ebony board made for it.
