Good Aftermarket Bridges

Sign in to disble this ad
I spent bit of time searching here to determine a really good aftermarket bridge but I couldn't come up with what I was trying to find so here is the question outright:

What are the top available aftermarket bass bridges?

I have a Peavey Foundation and I'd like to swap out the bridge. The factory bridge is not allowing me to properly intonate the axe.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Find out what else is wrong with the bass which is not allowing you to get proper intonation?

I've owned a bunch of peavey basses over the years and never had a single problem with setup on any of them.

The bridge is what's wrong with the bass. I cannot get proper intonation with the factory bridge. Close, but not right on the money.

Very weird. Are you sure it's not the strings or bridge location?

These work fine for little money:

STEWMAC.COM : Gotoh Standard Bass Bridge

Are you pushing the strings down over the saddles, so that you get a witness point? I sincerely doubt that it's the bridge.

Well, the bridge is in the stock position and I'm using Roto Sounds.

I've never heard of a "witness point" but I'm sure there are several more things I've never heard of still. I'm assuming you mean that I have to press the strings hard on the saddles to get a point of reference. Is this a bass thing? One or two saddles are maxxed out with their screws and the intonation is close but I like it closer.

Just push down just past the saddle so the string doesn't like, flop over the saddle, it has a nice even break, laying flat across the saddle. That is a witness point

I've always measured the nut to the saddle with th saddle set in the middle of the bridge which, and I have a shocking memory for this, I believe is 34 inches but double check and then place my bridge there and usually have plenty of adjustment either way. Short scale is different but people move bridges and if it is a rear 4 or 5 screw you'd never know unless you take the bridge off.

I don't mean the brand. How old are the strings? Older strings sometimes don't intonate well...

A few months old. I don't play every day. I recently cleaned them. The intonation was off since I bought the guitar. I don't mean waaaaaay off. I mean off enough to bug me. I like my guitars intonated spot on.
