Good service from Guitar Parts Resource

There have been a number of threads on TB about people having problems with customer service from Guitar Parts Resource. I thought I'd share what happened to me here.

I've ordered from Guitar Parts Resource (also known as Bass Parts Resource) many times over the years. I've never had any problems with any of my orders.

Recently I ordered a Telecaster pickup, but was accidentally sent a Telecaster bridge instead. I got a bit concerned due to all the posts I've read where people have had difficulty with the return process.

I sent them an email detailing the problem with my order. The next day, Jess from GPR/BPR answered my email, apologized, and told me the pickup would be sent out immediately. I was not asked to return the bridge. I got the pickup just a few days later.

I'm not disputing that others here have had problems with their orders, but I had no problem at all. The return process was as easy as possible.

Maybe they've stepped up their game?

Maybe you got lucky? I e-mailed them about three weeks ago asking a question about a truss rod nut on their website, and never got a response.

Glad to hear things have worked out for you, though.

It all very hit-n-miss with them.

I have decided to not deal with them any more for their screw ups and lack of communication. --- mostly lack of communication.

It feels to me that they run this business as a hobby and only occasionally check their email box.

The parts are good quality, decent prices too but the agony of waiting to find out what happened to the order or if it's ever gonna come is just too much - especially in financial times as these.

Life's tough enough, so in a quest to keep the angst to a minimum on my end, I just avoid them.

I wish that they'd take the business a lot more seriously, as you can see I'm looking for a piece of hardware (in my sig) but I refuse to buy it from them.

Doesn't sound like you got very lucky to me. You were sent a completely wrong part, and had to go through an extra process of emailing and waiting longer to get the right part you ordered to begin with. At least you get to keep the bridge.

I just ordered a Hipshot ultralite bass Xtender key from them over the weekend and the package arrived yesterday. Pretty quick turnaround except one problem, I received a regular Ultralite tuning key instead of an Xtender. Quite a price difference between the two.

Ordered quite a few parts from them in the past and never had a problem. Well... Except when I tried to return a neck plate/screws and was ignored. Remembering this I double checked and triple checked that I was ordering the right Xtender for my bass. Didn't matter...

Man, I really needed this for Saturday night. I sent them a couple emails yesterday and found their RMA form and filled it out as well. Certainly hope this gets resolved like the OP's situation (I don't care to keep the Ultralite tuner) but after reading others experiences here on I am starting to get worried.

Never had any problem dealing with bass parts resource. Not a ton of emails back and forth but enough to get the job done.

After reading about problems with their service I always send them an email with a list of the items (using their P/N's) I want and ask if they are currently in stock. if they reply in a timely manner and what I'm wanting is in stock, I order, if not I go someplace else.

I'm from Chile, and I recently ordered a lot of things from them, but the package was sent, by USPS mistake, to China instead of Chile! So I sent an e-mail to them and they did everything so my package would arrive here safe, and it did! I had to wait just 2 or 3 more days, I'm so happy!!
IMO, the most complete bass/guitar parts store. I hate to buy from different stores because shipping is not cheap to Chile :/

A follow up to my previous post

Bass Parts Resource contacted me this afternoon and said the Xtender is on its way to me. They also want me to ship the tuner back to them and said they will reimburse me the charges.

Hopefully it will get here by Saturday

I must be one of the lucky ones, 'cause I've never had an issue with them.

If I lived in Bozeman, I'd be happy with ANY contact with the outside world - even GPR.

Even when I lived in a less rural area, I got a run around from them - never again. Their communication skills suck big ones.

That has been the case for me in the past, but actually with this problem I listed above, they have been pretty responsive.

The more I think about my last purchase though, the more upset I get. I had to get my wife to take the package to the post office today to return it to them. She was not very happy about that and it cost her $6.10 to ship it back. I have a Fedex account but they wanted the return via a PO box. If they could have sent a return label it would have saved alot of grief.

I did nothing wrong, they sent me the wrong item but I have to jump through all kind of hoops on my dime to get what they originally charged me for. No guarantee that they will even reinburse me the shipping charges either and I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen.

I don't think I will place another order with them unless they are the only ones with an item in stock. If I owned this business, I would have told the customer in this situation to keep the tuning key and sent the Xtender Next Day Air. However, I get the impression that they think I am lying and trying to get something for free from them.
