I'm in need of someone who could free up the truss rod on my bass. It's a 70's Maya j-Bass Clone. I've had the thing since I was 13 (18 years ago) and want to give it some love, without breaking it. I plan to refinish the bass as well, but I don't want to put out that effort unless I can get the neck fixed up. The neck has a pretty bad buzz on the G string at the 3 fret and the action could be improved greatly once these issues are resolved.

I've looked into replacement necks, but I'm really worried about the weight. The neck that is on there is perfect, meaning that it doesn't sink if I take my hand off of it. My buddy has a USA J-Bass that does that, and it drives me nuts. I also have the pearl block inlays on mine and I haven't seen too many of those around for a reasonable price.

So, I'd really rather keep this neck and get it fixed.

There's a place named MSI guitar repair in San Jose run by a guy named Greg Menacho that I would highly recommend. He was recommended to me by a few people on here (you can find some mentions of him here on TB if you search his name). I've only had him do some basic work (input jack replacements and setup) but as there are others who have had alot more serious work done and swear by him I would have no problems doing the same (I do plan on having him do some more fancy work on my P-Bass soon).

If you're interested, PM me and i'll shoot you his contact info.
